Overview

DevKeys is designed with privacy as a core principle. As a keyboard application, we understand the sensitive nature of the data that passes through our app, and we are committed to protecting your privacy.

We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any user data whatsoever.

Data Collection and Usage

DevKeys does not:

  • Collect any typed content or keystrokes
  • Store any personal information
  • Transmit any data to our servers or third parties
  • Track your usage patterns or behavior
  • Access your contacts, location, or device information beyond what is necessary for basic keyboard functionality
  • Use analytics or tracking services
  • Display advertisements or use advertising identifiers

What DevKeys Can Access:
 As an Android keyboard, DevKeys requires certain Android permissions to function as a keyboard (android.permission.BIND_INPUT_METHOD). This gives the app technical access to what you type, but DevKeys is designed to process all input locally on your device and does not retain or transmit any of this information.

Microphone Access (Speech-to-Text Feature)

DevKeys includes an optional speech-to-text feature that requires microphone access.

What We Access:

  • Microphone audio input (only when you activate the speech-to-text feature)

How It Works:

  1. You must explicitly grant microphone permission
  2. Audio recording only happens when you long-press the microphone button
  3. Speech is converted to text in real-time on your device
  4. Recording stops immediately when you tap the microphone button or stop speaking

Data Processing:

  • All audio processing happens locally on your device using Android’s built-in speech recognition
  • No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted to DevKeys or any third party
  • Audio exists only temporarily in device memory during active speech recognition
  • Audio is immediately discarded after conversion to text

Your Control:

  • Speech-to-text is completely optional
  • You can revoke microphone permission at any time through Android Settings
  • Revoking permission does not affect any other DevKeys features
  • DevKeys will remind you to enable permission if you try to use speech-to-text without it

Third-Party Speech Recognition: DevKeys uses Android’s built-in speech recognition service (provided by Google or your device manufacturer). This service processes audio according to your device’s speech recognition settings. For information about how your device’s speech recognition handles audio, please refer to your device manufacturer’s privacy policy.

Data Storage and Security

Since DevKeys does not collect any user data:

  • No user data is stored on our servers (we have no servers collecting user data)
  • All keyboard processing happens locally on your device
  • Any app preferences or settings you configure are stored only on your device using Android’s standard local storage mechanisms
  • No data is synchronized across devices or backed up to any cloud service

Third-Party Services

DevKeys does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks, or other third-party code that would collect or transmit user data.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since we do not collect any user data, there is no data to retain or delete from our systems. Any local app settings stored on your device can be deleted by:

  • Uninstalling the DevKeys app from your device
  • Clearing the app’s data through your device’s Settings > Apps > DevKeys > Storage > Clear Data

Children’s Privacy

DevKeys does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since we collect no data at all, DevKeys can be safely used by users of all ages.

International Data Transfers

Since DevKeys does not collect, store, or transmit any user data, no international data transfers occur.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding personal data under laws such as GDPR, CCPA, or other privacy regulations. Since DevKeys does not collect any personal data, these rights relating to data access, correction, or deletion do not apply, as there is no data to access, correct, or delete.
